Frequently Asked Questions:

How does it work?
Cinematographer Michael Kurtz does it the traditional way with a film camera shooting 35mm film a frame at a time, which is then transferred to video.

What can I shoot?
Traditional time-lapse images are clouds racing by, freeway traffic and people moving quickly in public areas. Custom time-lapse images for a client can include: the client's work process, office area, building exterior, manufacturing plant or product assembly process. When time is compressed it turns an ordinary activity into an attention getting work of art!

What is required?
If the shoot needs to take place on public property liability insurance and a permit from the local film commission is needed. If the shoot takes place on private property nothing is needed. A property photo release is always recommended.

What do I get?
A single day of shooting just 400' of 35mm film requires no more than one hour of transfer time and can produce a dozen shots that run 10 to 15 seconds each. With motion effects and speed changes in the transfer process, the finished footage can be doubled and provide additional interesting looks from the same footage. With 35mm film the quality is extraordinary.

What does it cost?
Package prices start at $1,700 and include crew, film stock, processing, transfer and video tape stock for this unique service. The price of custom time-lapse can be as cost-effect as stock photography. Let cinematographer Michael Kurtz provide you with an exact price quote.
